Thanks for tha6 link. All of this had somehow passed me by! But I do know quite a bit about the planned refurbishments. The VC's comment was a little disingenuous; they are part of a federal government grant of $40 for new 'learning spaces' - places for students to plug in their mobile devices and work alone or in groups - that are being developed all over the university. So librarians are, as you say, still on the cutting edge of information provision and enabling.
